46 & 2 is basically referring to how humans have 46 chromosomes. He talks about 46 & 2 just ahead of me, which is referring to us evolving and gaining a pair of chromosomes. The song is about understanding where we evolved from to make us who we are and then a desire to move forward, because who we are is not that great. There's a great desperation to his voice in this song.

you may want to read up on carl jung. the song is a bit deeper than evolution. its maynard personaly crossing over and he has. not to the 46&2 but being proactive on that growth by connecting to reality. a higher consciousness that not everybody can attaine. ask yourself how tool makes you feel. and how he makes you feel so deeply. how he "connects" to you and you to him. it is not everybody who can connect like this. being at 44&2 right now we are for the most part on a low level of consciousness at 44&2. its thought that there is about 15% of todays society that will reach the upper parts of 44&2 consciousness. in other words 85% of people today arent consciouse of a real reality. i tend to believe this. just form my personal experiences with people and life. most people run around like zombies empty and cold stepping on fellow man for his own deviant needs. people will kill for money? we todayt allow genocide in society (darfur) no one has any compassion. everyone chaseing the all mighty dollar to busy to stop and look at whats happening around them. anyways ive bored you enough if you care to disguss it any further feel free to email me at (matthewb916@hotmail.com) chances are i will not get an email from you due to the 85% number i stated earler. im sure you much like them have your agenda in this world wrather it be you are all caught up in superficial things like only talking to girls on the internet so you can get some or what have you. we will see
Technically, yes you are correct, but there a a few things that need to be clarified. Humans have 44 chromosomes and 2 sex chromosomes. The "next step" in evolution is supposedly 46 chromosomes and 2 sex chromosomes. As we know, humans (homo sapiens) have not evolved in many many millennia. Therefore based on deduction, we will never physically reach the point of 46 & 2. However, Carl Jung has the idea that we may reach the point of 46 & 2 psychologically. Many of us today already have, as we have become more idealistic in recent years, and generation x is highly educated, giving us an advantage in the evolution of the psyche.
