Caroline. I think you're going to have me beat. This is the best I can do within 1 mile from my home.
This is the Boise river and the NY Canal. The Oregon Trail runs along the cliff edge to the left. After days of traveling through the high desert, pioneers would come to this cliff edge to see the first source of water and trees (les bois = boise) in 300 miles. The trick is getting your covered wagon down the cliff.

That's a pretty picture, and very historical. Boise is awesome.
Too bad I can't use Kyle's nose picture for the contest (it was technically over 1 mile away from home). I'll try to post mine in the next few days.
